I head out for a spring winter camping trip in Lunndörrsfjällen, Härjedalen, Sweden.
Spring winter camping in Heavy snowfall
When I start my spring winter camping trip from Tossåsen in Lunndörrsfjällen in Härjedalen, Sweden, it snowing a lot. I had read that the bridge over Rövran is removed and will be put back when the spring river had passed by. So I choose to follow the snowmobile trail up to the tree line, from there I skiing towards the winter trail to Lunndörren, I’m very glad I did, found some beautiful birch trees along the way.

White out minimal landscape
Up on the fells the landscape was very minimal, if you follow me, you probably know that I love these type of conditions and it really motivated me to get out winter camping even if the weather was grim.

Get some shelter
A few kilometer below Lunndörrspasset I pitch my tent and find some shelter, everything was very wet.

Time for lunch
I prepare some quick lunch, mashed potatoes and Wild Chips, lightly smoked, dried and flaked meat from elk, deer and reindeer. Tastes great with some food after the wet skiing.
Spend the afternoon reading book
I spend the afternoon reading my book and melting some snow.
Beautiful morning
The following day I woke up to a really beautiful morning, the sun beamed from a clear blue sky. Even if I like white out weather, it felt lovely with some sunshine.
Backcountry skiing to Lunndörrspasset
I pack my camera bag and tripod and head up to Lunndörrspasset, it was so beautiful to ski trough the untouched snow with the dramatic mountains as a backdrop.

Rumbling of avalanches
While I enjoy a cup of chocolate at the emergency cabin in Lunndörrspasset, I hear dark rumbling avalanches that rush down the mountain like a waterfall.

Beautiful winter camping site below the fell Dörrpiken
Back at campsite I enjoy the sunshine and prepare some lunch before I pack down my gear and continue my journey, I skied back towards Tossåsen, today the weather offer some visibility so I saw a nice campsite with beautiful views towards the fells Dörrpiken, Struohpie and Dörrsjöfjället.

Rest in the sun
I spend some more time enjoy the lovely spring winter weather and the lovely views towards the fells.
Backcountry skiing in the sunset
In the late afternoon I head out backcountry skiing in the surrounding, I had spotted a little hill close to the tent that I felt like a great viewpoint towards the beautiful surrounding fells. While the sun set behind the fells a very cold breeze svept over the fells. Soon it was time to head back to the tent, did some big turns down the fells.

Dinner in the tent
This evening the chef Real Turmat served me a Taco meal, teased great. Spend the evening melting snow and reading my book.
Shooting star
Lovely starry night with shooting star, will end a beautiful day.
Mist sweeps between the mountain peaks
Woke up early the following morning and the mist sweeps between the mountain peaks. I had some breakfast before I pack down my gear and head back to Tossåsen. On my way back I get a glint of the sun behind the clouds. I had heard from some skiers that it was a snow bridge over the river Rövran so I did take the ordinary winter/summer trail back to Tossåsen.
