After work I pack down my gear into the car and start my journey to Lakavattnet. It felt like I’m driving into the wilderness and winter wonderland. When I turn towards Storåbränna the road gets smaller and smaller and the plow edges gets bigger and bigger. After two hours driving I finally arrive to Lakavattnet, it was very peacefull and quiet, I was the only one on the parking lot. I pack my pulk and soon I was heading out into the wilderness in the light of my headlamp, felt great to be out there again.
Excited to explore new location
It was my first time to this location and I was very excited to explore the woodland and fells. I often use to visit Vinklumpen in the west of the nature reserve in Hotagen. Soon I reach Djupdalsvattnet and Almdalen where I plan to pitch my tent, the stars sparkles in the sky. I prepear some freeze dried food for a late evening dinner, soon I fall a sleep.

Weak up with a wow experience

When I ski into the reserve it was dark and I found my way in the light from the headlamp. So when I looks out of the tent in the morning I get really great WOW experience. When I first visit Rogen, then I also get the same WOW feeling. The landscape that surround us are really beautiful.

Time to explore Almdalen

I preparer some breakfast and pack my camera bag with some warm clothes and a lunchpack, I was very excited to explore Almdalen in Hotagen, nature reserve. I was skiing through a winter wonderland, all trees was snow covered and the valley Almdalen was surounded by steep fells, lovely views in all directions. First I want to visit Almdalen and say hello to Randi and Håkan how run the beautiful STF hut in Almdalen, me and Randi have a nice chat.
Passing trough a narrow passage

Then I continue my journey to the west, there is a narrow passage in the valley with steep cliffs on each side that looks very inviting. From there I got a view over a little lake and endless woodland, some mist dancing above the frozen lake, looks so beautiful. Down by the lake I stop for a lunch break, while I drink my warm chocolate I enjoy the beautiful landscape and the mist that winding between the trees and fells. I got so privileged to be out there and experience all this.

Heading back to tent

Soon the sun set behind the fells and the temperature drops and it get pretty cold as I ski back to the tent. I think it was nice to get some rest and read a few chapter in my book, Den trogne läsaren av Max Seeck.

Next adventure
I very excited to explore the woodland and the distant fells in the photo below, Tjärnafjället, there you will find a very old forest. I’m also excited to explore Gråberget, all in Hotagen Nature Reserve, Jämtland, Sweden.

Astrophotography in Almdalen

Later in the evening I head out in the darkness and capture a few Astro photographs of the surrounding fells and woodland. After that I slept very well after a day with amazing experiences.

New beautiful day

Wake up to another beautiful day, with an adorable view over the woodland and fells in Almdalen. I get out for a short backcountry skiing trip in the surroundings, it was a very beautiful day.

Time to head back to Lakavattnet
Every adventure have an end, soon it was time to head back to Lakavattnet, I get in a little bit of hurry on my way back because the Sami people moving their Reindeers to winter pasture, but I have a little advantage so I arrive to Lakavattnet before they come with Reindeers.
