As I started my hike through the old woodland, I was greeted with amazing views of the beautiful fells that surround the Nulltjärnarna and the old woodland.

I pitched my tent right next to the tarn, with beautiful views over the old woodland, and the fells in the background.

Evening Hike Through the Ancient Woods of Vålådalen

In the evening, I went for a short hike through the old woodland in Vålådalen Nature Reserve. The woodland was incredibly beautiful, with old dead wood scattered around, thick ancient fir trees, and nearly gray pine trees

The Magic of Dawn

The true magic revealed itself at dawn. Waking up early on a really cold morning, I noticed frost on the tent. As I unzipped the tent, I discovered a transformed world. A delicate mist floated over the lake, creating an ethereal scene straight out of a fairy tale. The old woodland was cloaked in a soft, dreamlike quality, and the fells stood solemnly in the background, their peaks emerging time to time through the mist.

Nature’s Dance

The mist danced and swirled over the water, illuminated by the first light of dawn. The stillness of the morning was palpable, and I watched in silent awe as the forest and the lake seemed to come alive with the day’s first light.

Sunrays in the Old Ancient Woodland

On my way back to the tent, I witnessed the most amazing sun rays piercing through the mist, casting a golden glow over the old woodland.

A Beautiful Morning Coffee Visit

While sipping my coffee, I had a delightful visit from a couple of Siberian Jays. I love those birds. They are often found in the old woodlands close to the fells. Today, we clearcut many forests in the northern boreal regions, destroying the habitat for the Siberian Jays. Therefore, it’s important to save these old woodlands that have never been clearcut before. Once they are gone, they can never be restored.

Reflection and Gratitude

As I packed up my campsite, a deep sense of gratitude enveloped me. Camping in such a serene setting not only offered respite from the everyday routine but also fostered a profound connection to nature. The ancient woodland, the mist-kissed lake, and the beautiful fells framing the scene left an lovely memory from the trip.
