I went out on a winter camping trip in Vålådalen Nature Reserve, Jämtland, Sweden in the beginning of December.

Followed the snowmobile track

I beginned my journey from Vålådalen early in the morning, the winter trail was completely untouched and the streams are open so I make the safe and decision to follow the snowmobile track the first four kilometers until the snow mobile track cross the winter trail. On many places I see hole in the snow and open water underneath.

When I reach the winter trail a snow mobile had drive along the trail so I choose to follow the track towards Stensdalen in Vålådalen Nature Reserve.

Trail trough Winter wonderland

I skied through a winter wonderland, it was completely silence and the fir tree was covered in a blanket of cold snow, really beautiful.

Half the way to Stensdalen I stop for a coffee break, taste just lovely and give me some more energy to continue skiing.

Reach higher ground

Soon I reach up higher and the landscape opens up, time to time I can see fells in the distans behind the clouds.

At the tree line I pitch my tent with a beautiful view over the fells.

Soon it start to get dark and it feels great to come inside the tent, I begin to melt some snow and prepare dinner.

Leaking sleeping mat

I notice that my sleeping pad had start to leak, I had repaired the mat once earlier but now the mat had start to leak again, but it takes a pair of hours before it becomes flat. I had to pump it up a few times under the night. But I had a good night sleep anyway.

Atmospheric fells

After breakfast I get out skiing and photograph the atmospheric fells and lonely birches. It was really beautiful. Felt so great to be up in the fells again. I had missed the fells.

This time I just stay one night in the fells and soon I had to pack down my gear in the pulk and head back, I get the most amazing mid winter light on the fells on the way back.
