Winter storm in Dörrsjöarna

  • cold, fells, jämtland, oviksfjällen, winter

After spending the night in my tent by the lakes of Dörrsjöarna, I continue my journey through the fells, skiing through the valley between the rugged fells of Baasmehke and Hundshögen. Their summits cloaked in swirling mist and brooding storm clouds. Occasionally, the sun pierced through the heavy sky, casting fleeting rays of light. The landscape was both breathtaking and imposing, filling me with a mix of admiration and unease. I pressed forward, wary of the relentless wind that threatened to throw me off balance. The air temperature hovered around -10°C, but with gusts reaching 15 m/s, the wind chill made it feel closer to -20°C.

Despite the unforgiving weather, I couldn’t resist pausing to set up my tripod. I composed my shot, using a jagged crack in the ice as a guiding element, leading toward the shadowy, menacing peak in the distance. To the left, a neighboring mountain caught the glow of the sun, creating a striking juxtaposition between warmth and the icy expanse.
